We are looking for a hands-on (Senior) Data Scientist to help us create game-changing alternative protein products. In your role, you will support us in building our AI platform - the literal brain of our company - to continuously find winning combinations of ingredients and create the next generation of alternative protein. You will report directly to the CTO and work in close collaboration with multifaceted teams from R&D, to Product to Business. You will excel in this role because your natural ability to drill down deep and solve complex problems is as distinctive as your inherent curiosity and eagerness to dive into new topics.

As an integral member of the engineering team to build our proprietary AI platform, you will have the exciting opportunity to continuously drive the improvements of our ingredient screening capabilities to create top notch plant-based products.

Your responsibilities

• You will be a driving force in the creation and development of our AI platform to continuously find the best ingredients for our products.

• You will work closely together with our R&D and product teams to come up with data-backed and ML-driven solutions for complex challenges to meet the high demands of our products.

• You will independently develop new machine learning initiatives end-to-end, from proposal to deployment, showing strong research, project management & communications skills and the potential to lead a small team.

• You will be tasked with debugging deployed models and continuously be on the lookout for improvements on datasets, algorithms and workflows.

• You will always stay on top with the latest findings and improvements in ML and related subjects and keep an eye out for methods and technologies that will help us develop better methods and products.

• You will have the opportunity to dive into the world of computational biology and translate the best from your field of expertise - data science - to food science.

Your profile

• You are hungry to build the technological and data-driven capabilities necessary to set up the crucial foundations of a sustainable and compassionate food system that generates true impact.

• You have a Bachelor Degree or Master Degree in Computer Science or a similar field with a focus on ML.

• You have at least 3+ years of experience in a hands-on data science role and can demonstrate successful deployment of your own ML projects and ML models in production.

• You possess stellar data science and analytical skills with a traditional data science stack (Python, Java, R, or Scala).

• You have a strong track record in implementing & training complex machine learning models in experimentation and production as well as collaborating within engineering teams to develop prototypes and software products that were deployed across varied production environments (cloud, on-premises).

• As a plus you have knowledge of continuous integration (CI/CD), cloud setup (IaC) and monitoring setup (MLOps) for data science projects.

• You have previously demonstrated your capabilities in project management and research. 

• You have a hands-on mentality, take initiative and are self-motivated.

• You have impeccable communication skills, are a supportive team player and know how to give and receive feedback constructively.

• You are fluent (speaking and writing) in English and (German is a big plus).
